You may have seen references to insecure web sites particularly when viewed from the Chrome browser where a website visitor may see unsecure website in the address bar with the URL prefixed with http://.  On secure websites the URL will be prefixed with https:// showing that a SSL certificate has been issued and may also display a small padlock in their browser. This level of security is required when financial transactions and data input can be expected by the viewer on the website.   The East Drayton Parish Council Website is a display of information and historical record and does not accept viewer input so does not need the extra level of security aforded by a SSL certificate or the cost to attain the certification.  (Website Manager)
